AlmaKnack: Tangier

Tangier was amazing! I did research ahead of time in terms of attire and what was appropriate. The consensus was the same: be conservative. I have to say that Tangier was more than I ever expected. The people were so nice and welcoming. The traditional Moroccan attire consists of a djellaba for both men and women and on special ocassions women wear kaftans. A lot of the younger women wore jeans with long tunics and hijabs while a lot of the older women wore djellaba and a hijab. I guess the title for who wore it best is a close race here. Yes, that was meant to be funny. Anyway, that was my street fashion observation. A lot of women don't wear hijabs but the majority did. Since it's summer a lot of Europeans were on holiday and there were so many people out. Tangier is a happening vacation spot. As you know we went to Tangier for a friend's wedding. The wedding was spectacular! It was a fabulous wedding with all the Moroccan traditions. It started at 10 PM and ended at 8 in the morning! It is safe to say that we were extrememly tired the next day but had to be up to continue the wedding festivities. I was so amazed at how easily we fit in. The language was not a problem. Some people spoke English and a great deal spoke Spanish. Spain is a 35 minute ferry ride away. I wish we would have had more time in Tangier but it all went so fast! Hopefully, I get to visit again.
