An American Girl in Nordstrom

Life has been so busy lately. Extremely busy. I don't know how I manage to do half the things I do so it's a surprise that I actually made it to Nordstrom yesterday. About three weeks I found out SJP was coming to  Houston to promote her fall line. The first thing I did was block off my schedule and call my sister. I found an amazing Red Valentino dress for $77 at Last Call Neiman Marcus over the weekend.  Perfect to meet one of my style icons. WWSJPW? (What would Sarah Jessica Parker wear) has been one of my mottos for like ever. That and WWVBW? (What would Victoria Beckham wear). So the day came and I find myself writing this blog as I stand in line waiting to meet her.

I must say I was stressing for a little bit. I should have bought my shoes beforehand but I didn't because I didn't have time! So I get there knowing exactly what shoe I want. Salesman goes to get it. Salesman comes back. Salesman does not have shoes. Salesman leaves. Salesman is looking for shoe. Salesman comes back. No shoe. I pick another shoe. Not available in my size. Salesman continues to look for original shoe. Salesman gets ahold of sales manager. She has shoe. I buy one shoe and stand in line. Other shoe pending my receipt reads. Half an hour later salesman comes with my shoe.  YAY!

It's 4:00 PM and we are anxiously waiting.  There's about 150 people in line I would assume or more I'm not sure. At least 100 in front of me.  Finally she comes down the escalator at about 4:10, it was the best ever.  I literally thought I might cry.  It's 4:56 and I'm at the front of the line.  She was the sweetest ever, I'm not sure what we talked about but I remember telling her I'd just had a baby.  Haha.  All I think about is my baby boy these days.  She's exactly how I thought she would be, very sweet and classy and fabulously dressed.  She signed my shoe and a card and I was so busy talking that I didn't even turn to look at the camera.  After the Benicio del Toro incident I made sure to keep my cool.

It so crazy to think SATC was such a long time ago, it ran from my JR year in high school through my JR year in college so a lot of the women there were moms, I saw at least 4 strollers.

I purchased The Fawn,which I am totally in love with and can't wait to wear! Yesterday was definitely one of my better days.

Confessions

This may seem like a DIY post. The project being: how to make a fort out of fancy shoe boxes. This my friends is what thousands of dollars worth of shoes looks like and I feel slightly elated and slightly ashamed. My love of fashion, shoes and hand bags has led to this moment. Admission of guilt. I have a problem. I am a shopaholic. Just like Rebecca Bloomwood. I contribute to charity and I have given tons of clothes away to free my guilty conscience but I shouldn't feel guilty right? After all I work extremely hard for it and it's not like I'm Carrie Bradshaw pre-book deal. You know when she couldn't afford to pay her bills because her love for Manolo and Fendi was just too great. Some people splurge on art. Fashion is art you wear so I'm getting a lot more use out of my shoes than I would a painting. Sigh. I feel so much better! I would say 80% of my wardrobe I've bought on sale though.  Even most of my Louboutins.

I'm still hopeful that one day I can rid myself of all material possessions but that seems nearly impossible. For the time being I will continue to post my things on eBay and make others happy. It's like I'm a modern day Santa Claus!!

Relapse

As most of you know by now I've relapsed.  I started shopping.  It all started President's Day.  I went vintage shopping in DC and bought a $200 Vintage dress.  That was it.  On Friday March 2nd I stopped by Bloomingdale's at White Flint because they were closing the store.  I bought $100 worth of underwear.  On March 3rd I ordered a pair of jeans from Bloomingdale's.com.  Last Tuesday I bought a dress for my birthday.  Last Friday I bought a fringed shirt that I cannot wait to wear from South Moon under.  They sent me a 20% coupon for my birthday and I HAD to use it . . . and finally yesterday I bought a pair of Christian Louboutin espadrilles.  I love them! I used my $100 incircle card so that was good and it was my birthday gift to myself.  I am so happy but now I feel like I need to get back on track.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with shopping.  The problem begins when shopping consumes my life as it was doing before.  I don't want it to get to that point.  I was literally shopping every day! The good thing is that I reached my financial goals I'd set for the first quarter so now I need to keep on trucking and stay on track.  No shopping for the next 30 days!  Aren't they lovely?

I love shoes! Flats, sandals, high heels, wedges, espadrilles, stilettos . . . all of them. I don't discriminate. I love designer and non designer shoes, as long as they look good and fulfill their purpose I am happy. Recently my bestie, Ali, stated she was thinking about purchasing a pair of Louboutins and I could not be happier. I personally think every woman should own at least one or two pairs. I own eleven and I love every single one of them. I am determined to do everything possible to help her find the perfect Louboutin. The first thing everyone should know is that Louboutins are not generally comfortable. Monsieur Louboutin has said so himself many times. He doesn't look at comfort when designing a shoe. Ok, so that's out. Loubotins are narrow so they tend to run a bit small. I am half a size to a full size larger in a Louboutin so keep that in mind when choosing a pair.  Some run true to size, it just depends on the style.  A pair will run somewhere between $500 - $3,000 on average, so if you plan on investing in a pair make sure it's a pair you love.  There's something I've noticed when I try on a pair of shoes.  I don't look at the way the shoe looks on my feet I look at myself in the shoe and I have to admit I always look good wearing a pair.  In my opinion Louboutins are probably some of the sexiest heels.  There's something about the red sole that just make men take a second look.  I have tried on countless pairs of Louboutins and if I had to buy just one pair it would be the Very Prive 120mm.  It is a timeless shoe and the hidden platform make them very comfortable (considering it's about a 4.5 inch heel).  It's such a versatile shoe.  It can be dressed up or worn with jeans.  The peep toe gives you just the right amount of toe cleavage.  I love! Of course it's up to you what pair you buy but just know that you won't regret it.  It's such a special shoe.  It gives me that extra oomph (like I need it).  It makes me feel confident and sexy.  If a shoe can make you feel so good why not splurge . . . . right?!

My fashion Friday's are spent at work therefore I have to dress appropriately. I'm on my feet most of the day so I try my best to be stylish yet comfortable. OOTD consisted of Robert Rodriguez hot pink silk top, Aqua navy blue cigarette pants, Stuart Weitzman black patent leather pumps, and Gucci iridescent eyeglasses. I have to say that every single pair of Stuart Weitzman's I own are very comfortable so they're good for work. Now, the shoe I really wanted to wear was a 5 inch Miu Miu platform but that would have been too much for the work day. :)
