Shoefie

Saturday, November 5, 2016

It's the weekend!!!! One must brunch. Had a lovely Saturday with my family celebrating my sister's vegan anniversary. She's been a vegan for one year, no turning back she says.  We drank, we ate and we were merry. A fun Saturday afternoon.  We ate at Benjy's on Washington.  They have pretty good vegan options and we like the vibe in general.  Super comfy and kid friendly.

I'm going to dedicate this post to my shoes.  They are my fab find of the week, $34 at Macy's! I was walking through Macy's yesterday on my way up get my eyebrows done and there they were. I copped a pair. Love. Love.  I love this jumpsuit, I try to wear it any chance I get.  The shoes are actually very comfortable, I walked in them all afternoon.  I really do love them, I plan on wearing them all season long.

I hope everyone had a fun Saturday!

Winter grays

Thursday, January 23, 2014

On Sunday I wore this fabulous Rachel Zoe dress.  It is from the Pre Fall 2012 collection.  Originally $795 I scored it for $89 after being marked down from $249 at TJ Maxx.  It's from the Runway section . . . of course.  I love TJ Maxx.  Love, love, love.  I have searched high and low for this dress or a similar to post but cannot find anywhere so my suggestion would be to take a maxi dress you already own and cut slits from the thigh down.  That will give you a similar effect.  I wish I'd had a fan blowing while I posed so that you could see the layers, or posed differently.  I posted the picture of the model from the original collection.  I am still a size 6, yessss!

I paired the dress with YSL now Saint Laurent Tribute Platform Sandals.  I do not remember paying that much when I purchased them 2 years ago, but they are super comfy and I love them.  I can only wear them for about 6 hours now that I am pregnant though.  My feet were hurting by the end of the day.  I accessorized with a BCBG crystal headband, similar here, and a silver cuff purchased at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.  I cannot believe I am due in 6.5 weeks!!! Yikes . . . I'm super excited!

Roaring 20s

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Last Friday V and I attended a 20s inspired gala.  So much fun!  I pinned up my normally long hair into a faux bob.  I improvised the hair a little compared to the tutorial.  I wanted curls so I curled then teased and instead of tying it with a hair tie and pinning it, I just pinned the loose ends.  It was such a fun event!

Whenever I think of the 20s I think of flappers, fringe, drop waists, short hair, head bands, cigarettes, gloves, thin eyebrows etc. etc. I knew exactly what to wear!

This Alice and Olivia was purchased 2 years ago at Neiman's and I wore it for NYE 2012.  The shoes were purchased in 2011 and the pearls are my mom's so no new clothes were purchased for this event which was super exciting! See, all my old clothes get a second chance.  I had to purchase the headband, but that was it.

Repeat offender

Monday, January 21, 2013
Let me tell you a little story. When I was 12 years old my favorite outfit was a pair of skinny jeans, a black leotard and black flats.  I probably wore this outfit about once a week, if not more.  One day my tactful father approached me and asked: Do I not buy you enough clothes for you to not wear that same outfit over and over?
Since then I vowed I would never, ever, ever wear the same outfit again within a three month period.  I used to write down my outfits on a calendar just to make sure I didn't repeat them.  Even now if I'm pictured in something I refuse to wear it again.  Blame it on my roots.
Well, all that has changed since I bought the most amazing blazer that goes with everything! All my dreams have come true.  I don't need any more pieces in my wardrobe.  I can breathe again! And I don't even think my dad has noticed I've worn it three times in the last two weeks.

What do you think?

Put out the cheese . . .

Sunday, November 25, 2012
My friends ask for my opinion all the time. I guess they value what I have to say. Like the other day my friend said she was getting off birth control so I shared all my expertise on condoms. Ok, maybe she didn't ask for my opinion but I couldn't help myself.  :D Are emoticons allowed when blogging?

Today I'm giving you my opinion on onesies. I have come to the conclusion that everyone should own a onesie. They keep you warm in winter and people compliment how cute you look.

I love sweats. They are so comfy. I just wish they were more socially acceptable. A girlfriend of mine told me her boyfriend won't let her leave the house in sweats. Sometimes it's really cold and I have to run errands. I don't want to dress up to go to the dry cleaners and the bank. No señor.

I'm still in search of the perfect pair of sweats but in the meantime I've found refuge in this jumpsuit/onesie from ASOS.  My favorite thing about this jumpsuit is that you can actually dress it up or down.  It's very versatile . . . look forward to all the different ways I wear this onesie.  Just wait.

Naked

Sunday, November 4, 2012
Remember Carrie's infamous naked dress? The one she wore on her first date with Mr. Big? Well, I have  the equivalent. I wore celebrity favorite, Jovani, for my 30th birthday in Miami and it was perfect but I haven't found much use for it since. Why the illusion of nudity? I don't know. Hmm, attention maybe. Not sure. I mean many have done it before me right? Britney Spears at the 2000 MTV VMAs and J. Lo in her on the floor video. Perhaps it's not the need for attention but the need to stand out? Is that the same thing? Regardless for some reason some women love to flaunt it.   Me included.   I just wanted something unique and pretty and of course sparkly.  I don't anticipate making much use of this dress, for one it stands out so you'll remember seeing me in it if I wear it more than once but I can't get rid of it! I love it.

It was my friend's birthday on Saturday and we were meeting for dinner at Panache.  I wanted to wear something nice but I refuse to buy any more clothes.  Time to get creative.  I decided to pair my "naked" dress with a Sabine skirt that I purchased from Piperlime and B by Bryan Atwood sparkly peep toe booties.   The dress served as a top.  I must say I was very pleased.  I received many compliments and inquiries on the dress.

I think next Halloween I'll dress up as Katy Perry and wear it again.  What do you think?

I purchased the dress from Signature boutique in Georgetown.  Jovani 7757 dress found here.  If paying that much isn't in your plans I've selected other options that are not exactly the same but will help you stand out in any party or special occasion.

And now the pics . . . .
